The Open Bioinformatics Group

The Open Bioinformatics Group is a co-working group consisting of bioinformatics students and professionals. The main purpose is to provide an collaborative environment for sharing, brainstorming, mentoring, co-working on bioinformatics topics and projects with other bioinformatics researchers. There is no agenda, formal introductions or discussion topics, however please come with an open mind and willingness to share, talk, and mentor!

Our co-working events typically take place at either the UCSD Geisel Library or the Bella Vista Social Club and Caffe and include 15-20 participants. Meetings are often combined with the San Diego Python Users Group meetup and sometimes with the San DiegoMachine Learning Society , in which case we may have 30+ people attending. Please see our bioinformatics group events calendar for our next meeting. If youd like to attend feel free to click the event link to RSVP on the meetup page, or just stop by and check it out.

Please contact the open bioinformatics group organizer Derek at derekschaeffer@sdwetlab.org if you have any questions.
